Clinical Services...

Laurel Highlands Foundation, Inc. specializes in supporting persons with dual disabilities (developmental disabilities and mental illness). Our affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and their Department of Psychiatry provides opportunities for staff to participate in the state of the art and best practice models for this specialized population. LHF's behavior consultant routinely meets with all individuals supported by the agency. He leads regular team meetings which include participation of the individual and his or her support staff, in order to develop positive behavioral support plans and to assess the effectiveness of specified interventions. In addition, ongoing staff training into understanding the mental health aspect of each person with developmental disabilities is offered to the individuals and their families.
Residential and Community Services...

In the residential program, a well trained staff is available on a 24 hour basis to assist each individual to achieve personal goals, to develop life skills, and to be an active member of his or her community. We aim to empower individuals with multiple challenges to achieve the highest degree of autonomy possible. And we encourage input, involvement, and support from the individual's circle of support.
Daily Program
Adult Training Facility...

This program offers assessment of work readiness and job skills development and allows individuals to progress at a pace that is individualized and in accordance with abilities. The program enables individuals to receive functional training that focuses on job and trade skills which allow the individual to contribute to the community. This, in turn, promotes self-esteem and self-worth. The goal for each person is real work with real pay in order to foster and promote independence. The day program also provides a venue for communication, socialization, and community mobility and encourages independence.
Respite Services...

When emergencies arise in the community, our respite services are available on a time limited basis to assist individuals and their families who are in a crisis situation by providing a safe, supportive environment in a time of need. Our respite services can include, but are not limited to, meaningful day activities and medical behavioral support.
